A found poem is seeded onto Conway's Game of Life, one word per cell, and left to run until it settles. The automaton doesn't compose: it just decides, cell by cell, who keeps living from one generation to the next. What's still standing when it settles isn't authored so much as survived, closer to what a second reading does to a poem than to writing one.
